Edgewise: An Assignment to Remember


In my late-fifties, I’ve been blessed to enjoy the best of all worlds- both personally and professionally.  My romance with Carl, my husband of 40 years, is still going strong and we’re extremely proud of our sons, Kenneth and Cory.  I’ve enjoyed several successful careers including interior design, marketing, image development, and mortgage finance.  However, life hasn’t always been so blissful.  In January of 1984 my world was abruptly interrupted when I discovered our son, Collin, drowned in our backyard pool.   Three weeks later I was abducted by two men, sexually assaulted at gun-point, and abandoned.   As a defense mechanism my mind shut down and blocked out those traumatic events, leaving me in a deep state of denial and drained of any color in my life.   Sessions with the psychiatrist were primarily silent on my part, thus unproductive until several months later, when the doctor gave me the challenging assignment to write about my first memories.   An unexpected surprise came when my first memory was a very sweet one–the image of my father and me as a little girl.  That vision opened a floodgate of memories that unfolded onto the pages over the next several months, eventually bringing me back to reality.  Edgewise reflects those memories, with interspersed scenes in the psychiatrist’s office chronicling my progression.  Delaney is my alter ego, and all the names are changed to protect the innocent, and the not so innocent. The manuscript was recognized Novel of the Year by the Atlanta Writers Club in 1996. I’m inspired when I read about someone overcoming life’s roadblocks, and Ihope my readers are inspired in the same way.    The events upon which Edgewise is based have made me stronger and more compassionate of others, and I thank God I’m here today to share my story.Â

In the last three years Nika Roza Danilova has gone from being an outsider experimental teenage noise-maker to a full fledged internationally celebrated electronic pop musician. Homesorg Releases Mortgage Rates Update

The Homes.org weekly mortgage rate report found that mortgage interest rates rose last week despite the Fed’s announcement of long term plans to keep base interest rates at record. However, since that climb rates have again fallen back down to record lows. The up and down movement has been a product of investor confidence that the U.S. economy is growing stronger and government actions to help the housing market. This back and forth tug of war in interest rates is right in line with Homes.org’s forecast last week.

Current interest rates are:

4.12% – average rate for a 30-year fixed rate mortgage

3.34% – average rate for a 15-year fixed rate mortgage

In the last week, 30-year fixed-rate mortgages fell by 12 basis points while the 15-year fixed-rate mortgage dropped 11 basis points. This time last year the 30-year fixed was at 5.02%.

The Homes.org Weekly Mortgage Rates Update identifies the five reports coming out this week that could impact interest rates and how.

Monday – December Personal Income and Outlays Report

Tuesday – Consumer Confidence Report

Thursday – Initial Jobless Claims Report and 4th Quarter Productivity Report

Friday – Jobs Report

According to the Bank of England in its data showed that the home purchase loans approvals rose a little from 52, 786 up the figure of 52, 454 in the month of October in 2011. This was the highest figure from the month of December in the year 2009. The economical experts had said that there would be a fall to 52,500, but that never happened and it kept on increasing trend since then that put all experts in dilemma.

Andrew Goodwin, senior economic adviser at Ernst & Young ITEM Club said that we should take this increase in better stride that is going form from the month of November.

Chef Wolfgang Puck’s company will manage catering services for this facility. The aquarium also includes a fairly large food court with tables extending into the main lobby. The costs of building the aquarium escalated beyond Marcus’ original US0 million donation.
